Mogadishu, May 15 (Prensa Latina) Somali security forces said today that a bombing planned by the terrorist group Islamic State (IS), near the Presidential Palace in this capital city was thwarted.
Secret service agents found various laptops and explosives in a car, while an alleged IS member was arrested and banners and letters written with the name of the extremist group were seized, a governmental source told the media.
According to government spokesperson Abdifitah Omar Halane, the evidence found indicate that terrorists seek to target civilians and official institutions.
A Somali group of the Islamic State, led by Sheikh Abdulkadir Mumin is very active in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland.
That group left the Somali anti-government organization Al Shabab and joined IS.
