Russia Arrests a Tajik Citizen in St. Petersburg on Suspicion of Joining Islamic State

Russian authorities, on Thursday, announced the arrest of a man of Tajik nationality, internationally wanted on charges of joining the Islamic State organization, in the city of St. Petersburg.

A spokeswoman for the Attorney General of the city of St. Petersburg, Yekaterina Bespalova, told Beyond The Levant, “We have been notified Mr. Davlatov was located on the Russian territory, and joined IS through the social networking sites on the Internet, and posted on his page on the Internet images of “extremism.”

It is noteworthy that the detainee was arrested on the 14th of this month in the city St. Petersburg.
