South Korea investigating possible cyber attack from IS

South Korean police announced on Saturday an investigation into allegations of a breach of computer networks belonging to a South Korean company by hackers potentially linked to the Islamic State in order to obtain data on 20 or more South Korean citizens.

The news agency Yonhap reported Korean officials, security and other relevant organizations, saying a company that offers news service was victim of a cyber attack which led to the leak of names and e-mail addresses for 20 of the public and civil servants.

The officials believe there is a connection between the hack on the company and an Islamic State propaganda video, which was broadcast over the Internet last November, where the Caliphate has threatened to launch attacks on countries hostile to it, including South Korea.
